Dugo Ng Birhen El Kapitan

An officer, El Kapitan, rapes and murders a young woman in the past. A witch places a curse on the criminal capitan that transforms him into a vampire. He is sealed away in a casket that keeps him away from the world until 1999 when a crew of miners find the casket and open it. Of course, the opening of the coffin unleashes El Kapitan who still drinks blood and stalks around with a rather nasty looking sword. Anyone that he bites also becomes a flesh-eating vampiric zombie (they actually look more demonic, but eat flesh like zombies). A young woman, who appears to be the reincarnation of the raped maiden, may be the key to stopping him, along with the man she is involved with.

This is a fairly decent film. The plot and structure of the movie is a little disjointed. You have a series of horror scenes and a lot of blood and gore with the vampiric zombies. Then you have scenes of Klaudia Koronel either topless or making out. There are a couple of other ladies who bare their flesh. And they are indeed quite nice too look at as well. But the scnes of the women naked and the various sex scenes do seem to interrupt the film. In fact, I suspect they were added in for an international release and kept out of the one released in the Phillipines. A side effect of this fact is that much of the action of the film is out-of-place. The acting is good as is the direction. The make-up of the vampire and vampire zombies was very impressive as well. And I do mean that it was very good. It was far beter than what I've seen in many other Filipino films. These creatures look very professionally done. It was a good film to watch despite getting whiplash with the changes in pacing.
